Will John Howard win again ?   Can he make a Melbourne Cup like dash to the post at the last minute ?   Do we care ?  Australia is so far away. Yet trade is important. think of all that lovely wine ? If the new PM were to ban the export of wine for example, would we suffer?    You’re darn tootin’

Want to go out to try the wine first hand before it is “processed” and taxed by the LLCBO ?  Call us [416] 489 7072

WARBIRDS over WANAKA

What is a Warbird - and where is Wanaka ?

The warbirds are the aircraft used in World Wars I and II, the fighters of Korea and the jets of Vietnam - plus aircraft of the Royal New Zealand Air Force.

Wanaka is in my opinion the most beautiful town in New Zealand nestled at the base of the Southern Alps on the edge of an azure blue lake.

In 1988 aviation entrepreneur Sir Tim Wallis presented an air show and country fair which attracted some 14,000 visitors to Wanaka Airport. He decided to expand on the theme and the event is held over the Easter weekend every other year - 2008 being the next one. Now some 100,000 people attend.

Yes - there is accommodation in the area but it is wise to book early if you wish to be close to the event.

There is so much more to be found in this area - bungey jumping, paragliding, fly by wire, zorbing, jetboating and other adventures.

A Travel Jewel

buffalo-chasing-lion-2003.JPG  Duba Plains camp on the Okavanga Delta in Botswana is a real travel jewel. One goes here in search of animals.
After many, many years of travel to South Africa we had had a really good view of relatively few animals. Our ‘catch’ at Duba on the first day was 19 lions lounging in the sun on the airport runway.

The campsite is extremely comfortable, well managed and the service is impeccable.

Readers of the “The #1 Ladies’ Detective Agency” series will recognise the supreme peace of the country, the kindness and honesty of the people, and above all, the safety of the surroundings.

Botswana has avant garde tourism policies, restricting the numbers of tourists who may visit in any one year in order to protect the environment.

Botswana is a jewel country. Would you like to visit there ?
